Lotus World Music & Arts Festival free workshop with Vivalda Ndula on Saturday, 9/24, 11 a.m.

Festival artist Vivalda Ndula will be giving a Lecture/Demo on the concept of Banduka. In the Kimbundu language, Banduka means “free”; but it is also a type of song in Angolan culture that refers to “Kalunga A Ngombe”, or the God of Death, in the sense of transcendence and healing. Ndula will talk about loss and grief, and discuss the details of “Kalunga” in moments of hope. The audience is invited to join Ndula and participate in a Q&A at the conclusion of her program.
