It’s a particular delight to see a new body of work from a photographer you know you love. This showstealer was lovingly tucked away in an old small stone room in Arles, in collaboration with Bergtsson Fine Art, and Landskrona Foto. Emilia Martin’s work in progress, Hail Mary, bobbin lace, serpent’s thread, breathes a sense of mystery into textile work from the past, and to the women who spent their hours with their fingers laced in thread. Martin handles the story of feminine labor carefully, shaping its forms into something quite strange while preserving its beauty.

We’ll be doing an exhibition with Emilia at Pictura later this year, and we were very glad to catch her opening in Arles. Seeing her delicate craftsmanship in person again made us impatient to install her show in the gallery.
